I decided to add this page to give you some fun stories of how I took the picture or interesting information regarding the subject; a bit of story telling along with the photo! I hope you enjoy!

surprise photos are the best

Heron- Taken July 2025

I was in Erie walking along Presque Isle. I spotted a pond like area and saw some turtles sunning themselves. As I was walking along, I almost stepped on this beautiful bird. Lucky, enough, I had the proper camera settings and as it flew off, I was able to capture this awesome photo.

It surely was an awesome surprise photo.

3rd Place- Global Competition; Unusual Angles

Titanic Museum- Belfast Ireland

This is a picture of the Titanic Museum in Belfast, Ireland. But what is unusual is; it is actually the reflection in the water that surrounds it- not the building itself! Each of of the slabs that you see represents a life lost in the wreckage. Also, the day that I took this picture was the very same day that the OceanGate imploded at the Titanic wreck site: June 18, 2023.

This museum is amazing with a live feed to the ocean floor...well worth the visit!

The Dung Beetle

Did you know this?

The Dung Beetle

The dung beetle creates a ball of elephant waste. The male pushes the ball with his hind legs, as his wife rides the ball. Inside of this self made ecosystem are their eggs along with seeds etc of food that will eventually grow for the family. The ball is buried and a whole new community and habitat is born!
I took this picture leaning over a jeep in South Africa, January 2025!

First Helicopter

RIDE!

What an amazing experience!  My first helicopter ride and over Victoria Falls.  It was 25 minutes of serene beauty.  I was able to lean out over a bubble window to take the photos!

Venice, Italy: Gandolas

Yes! I was laying on my stomach, with water splashing up onto me...as a group of people watched. I took several shots to get the water clearing over just as I envisioned. One of my absolute artistic favorites from Italy!

Lamb of God

This photo is from the grounds of Kylemore Abbey in Ireland. I wanted it to be a "pure" shot as in no edits. There were several people walking in and out of the building...so I waited...90 minutes! And this is the photo with the sheep cooperating perfectly!
